Google Releases New Features for Documents and Educators
Writen by Matt Christensen
Google has been busy lately releasing a couple of new features. First up is Docs and Spreadsheets. Previously this was just spreadsheets but now it includes a word processor similar to Microsoft Word only web based. The power of this tool is the collaboration and sharing features. This allows the document to be worked on by a team and published to the web.
Google has also released a site for educators. Its a site designed to help teachers improve by using Google tools such as Google Calendar and Google Docs. The site has 12 applications for teachers. Under each application is a guide to how to use the application and how teachers are using it to help them with their projects. As a former teacher I feel this site is fantastic. Education these days uses more and more technology each day. Google provides an easy way for teachers to collaborate and help each other embrace the new turn education has taken.
Many aspects of life now flourish on the web yet education lags behind. Appling Google applications and technology to education will help students learn. Although teachers may have a tough time adapting, using technology will make teaching easier.
Google works hard to make its application logical and easy to use so once a teacher adapts to using Google applications to teach, teaching itself will become easier. The Google education site can be found at http://www.google.com/educators
