CRM Software Systems

Writen by Ross Bainbridge

Customer relations management (CRM) software systems have been applied to almost every element of business that even remotely interacts with a customer. The original concept of CRM is far different than it is now. Since its beginnings, CRM systems have evolved into what it is today. Its evolution is driven by three elements: technology, integration and process. Recently, there has been a move to add another element to this evolution process: customer-driven CRM.

Technology has always been used to establish better communication with customers. Better communication results in improved marketing, planning, campaign management, forecasting and problem solving. Sometimes this will work to the advantage of the business owner. However, if the information provided by the technology is flawed, the process does not improve the quality of the outcome.

Integrating the data gathered by the technology is the next step in the evolution of the CRM system. Instead of operational silos that hinder customer relations, the organization as a whole takes responsibility for customer satisfaction. It is now easier to respond to sales opportunities, or issues customers may have and take the appropriate actions necessary to rectify the situation.

During the process of the evolution, it is noted that some parts of the system might be outdated or ineffective, and these parts can be eliminated from the process. By doing so, the process can be recreated to fit the need of customers. The results become more predictable and improve effectiveness in serving the customer.

Customer-driven CRM deal with the ever-changing business trends. Today’s customers have changed their needs because of disruptive change in their lives. The uncertainties surrounding the “post September 11 world” have changed the priorities and values of customers. Without knowing exactly what is in a customer’s head, it is very difficult to establish customer relations strategies that serve the needs and expectations of buyers and sellers. The entire CRM software system is designed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the seller’s business. This is not an easy task; rather, it is complex and ever changing.

How To Remove Spyware And Adware

Writen by Raiel Schwartz

Spyware and Adware are very common on the internet now days. If you download music, picture, movies, and more on the internet, you are at a risk of having Spyware and Adware on your computer. Spyware and Adware can slow down your computer, give you nasty popup’s and a lot of times have companies spy directly on your computer and steal your personal information. You do not have to deal with this anymore, you can actually remove spyware and adware, and you can remove it for free.

The best way to remove spyware and adware are to download spyware removal tools. There are some spyware removal tools that are free, but the best ones you have to pay for. Since I am providing you with a free way to remove your virus, I am going to give you the top 3 free resources that will remove most of your spyware and adware from your computer.

1) Adaware 6.0
Adaware 6.0 is a free spyware and adware removal tool. It is definitely one of the best (if not the best) free spyware/adware removal tools. You get daily updates, easy to use interface, and fast scanning to delete the most common spyware and adware on your computer. One scanner will not do it all by itself though, which is why it is recommended to have up to 5 scanners protecting you sometimes. Overkill? Maybe. But is it worth protecting all your valuable information like Credit Cards? Yes!

2) Spybot Search and Destroy
Although not as good as Adaware it comes in a close second. This program has an immuneizer built in that will automatically work with your internet browser to not allow you to go to known bad sites that give you viruses. This also enables you for free daily updates so you can be protected against the most common spyware/adware.

3) Spyware Blaster
Spyware Blaster is not really a spyware/adware scanner, however it is a free tool that will keep your computer safe from disabling spyware/adware from downloading itself into your computer. With Spyware Blaster you eliminate spyware before it even comes on your computer, and you also receive free updates.

Still have spyware and adware on your computer? Get the best program that is guaranteed to remove all spyware and adware no matter what type it is visit http://truemonitors.com/noadware

Contributor License Agreements, and the "Effects of the Devil" aka SCO

Writen by Kalle Alm

What?
Contributor License Agreements — or CLA’s — are a fairly new phenomenon in the Open Source world. IANAL, but I am going to make an attempt to explain what a CLA is, and why it is necessary today, where it previously was not.

The most commonly used CLA is that of the Apache Software Foundation (ASF), and the purpose appears right at the top of the agreement:
In order to clarify the intellectual property license granted with Contributions from any person or entity, the Foundation must have a Contributor License Agreement (”CLA”) on file that has been signed by each Contributor, indicating agreement to the license terms below.
The agreement continues to in great detail explain that the person signing the document must both be the author (or hold rights or permission by the author), and be the copyright owner of the contributions they are planning on making to the project in question. It is clarified that the rights to use the contributions will always and forever remain with the contributor, and that the CLA simply extends this right to the project as well.

In other words, if you submit stolen code, you are breaking the CLA, but if you refrain from such follery, nothing’s changed. You’re still the copyright owner of your submissions, but you grant the other party these rights as well. Simple enough.

In the past, this has been a presumed agreement between the involved parties. If I help you out and patch up your code to make it run better, or submit documentation that makes your code more useful, or whatever, you and I both presume that I didn’t steal the code from someplace and handed it to you in evil. This presumption is no longer enough, for good or worse.

Why?
CLA’s became necessary as a direct effect of the SCO vs. Linux court case(s), which, summarized, are about: “SCO claims a bunch of contributors to the Linux source code stole that code without permission from SCO, and that thus, SCO is now the owner of Linux and may at their whim request that all users of Linux pay a royalty fee.” Pretty scary, huh? Be that as it may, the court negotiations are as of this writing ongoing, but things are looking bad for SCO (for what it’s worth).
But regardless, SCO’s claim was a bucket of cold water in the face of the many maintainers of and contributors to various Open Source projects out there, as a legal matter was suddenly making things a tad more complicated. What if someone helps you out and gives you a bunch of really good, professional code, and what if that code is ripped out of some commercial, copyrighted very-much-not-open-sourced product somewhere? How would you know? How could you possibly know?

A quick Google search on “contributor license agreement” shows 1.6 million hits. Obviously, a great deal of Open Source maintainers and organizations do care, and CLA’s are obviously the answer to this legal matter.
In the end, I think the majority of those who’ve followed the SCO vs Linux court case agree that it is exclusively a matter of halting the progress of the rapidly evolving Open Source world. Microsoft, the father of FUD, assuredly caught onto the dick-grip SCO had on Linux in particular and Open Source in general, and decided to sponsor SCO by handing $12 million dollars to SCO, “to purchase UNIX-type licenses so Microsoft customers can run UNIX-type applications” (this was in the year of 2005, and was reported by Business Week). In the end, though, did SCO win? Have they hampered the development of Open Source software?

In my opinion, yeah. They have won. They have won a fraction of what they aimed for, but yes, I believe SCO got if not the whole cake, they got a taste of it. But I also believe that what they won, the Open Source movement will ultimately benefit from. Ultimately. Eventually.
From personal experience, I know what a CLA can do to the quantity of contributors. A lot of people feel that they want to help a project out, but when they’re handed a big, scary paper which may be interpreted as giving up the rights to something you give away for free, they hesitate. And rightly so. Everyone should hesitate when prompted to sign legally binding documents; everyone should read the fine print and ensure they know what they’re getting into. But this, naturally, proffers a wholly different stage than the good old “Wanna help out? Just chuck yer code at me and I’ll eyeball it and if it looks good I’ll plop it into the svn tree, mate!” type of development.

In the long run, though, Linux and Open Source have been children until now, and it’s time to grow up and face the big crowd, and the big crowd usually wields lawyers like children wield wooden swords, and the difference is that more than a few bruises and tears are at stake. That SCO will ultimately lose to Linux I have no doubts of. And in a way, I am grateful that the world will get to see Linux prevail in court over the devil, and I believe companies worldwide will see this as a trigger to examine Open Source alternatives closer, au contraire to the belief that companies will shy away from it, due to its “run-ins with the law.”

Kalle Alm is an open source developer located in Sweden, currently working on SynchroEdit for Alacrity Management Corporation, since about a year ago. He has been using Open Source software (linux in particular) for nearly a decade. He’s blogging about this and a variety of other things at http://kallewoof.com/

An Introduction To Photoionization

Writen by Christopher Miller

A Photo-Ionization Detector (PID) measures real-time concentrations of organic and inorganic vapors in low levels from parts-per-billion (ppb) up to 10,000 parts-per-million (ppm). A PID is a very sensitive instrument used in a wide variety of applications such as:

  • Hazardous waste sites
  • Clean-up of spills
  • Protecting workers from toxic vapors
  • Refineries
  • Leak detection for compliance
  • Pulp and paper plants
  • Hazardous materials response
  • Terrorist chemical attacks

How Does a PID Work?
A PID uses an ultraviolet (UV) lamp to ionize molecules, causing them to release an electron and form a positive ion. This will occur when the ionization potential (IP) of the molecule is less than the electron volt (eV) output of the UV lamp (i.e., 10.6eV, 11.7eV, or 11.8eV). Ions formed in the air are driven in one direction by a bias electrode and accumulated at a collecting electrode. The ion current is then amplified and converted to a digital meter readout in parts-per-million (ppm). The most common UV lamps used in field work are 10.6eV, 11.7eV, and 11.8eV. The useful lifespan of the 10.6EV is about 3,000 hours, the 11.7eV is about 200 hours, and the 11.8eV is about 500 hours. Of course, these lifespans are all dependent on how carefully the lamps are used and maintained.

View a diagram.

When to use a PID
PID’s are primarily screening devices. They will detect any volatile organic compound (VOC) with an ionization potential below the electron volt rating of the lamp. Simply put, a PID tells you that something is there, never what it is (besides that it is a voc), and only sometimes how much. For example, the standard calibration for a PID is 100ppm Isobutylene, if isobutylene is the only VOC in the air the ppm reading on the instrument is an accurate representation of how much Isobutylene is present. However, if there is or can be other VOC’s in the air, you can only be certain that something is there, not what or how much. Sometimes PID’s can be calibrated to other gases, like Hexane. Many PID’s contain built in correction factors that allow the instrument to be calibrated to Isobutylene but have the reading adjusted for other gases.

Will IPods Change the Way We Watch Television?

Writen by Ro Russell

The industry was intrigued by Wednesday’s announcement that episodes of the hit ABC shows “Desperate Housewives” and “Lost” will be available for Apple’s new video iPod. Episodes will go on sale for $1.99 on iTunes the day after they are broadcast.

For ABC and its parent Walt Disney Co., the bet is that the new technology will bring in more new fans of the programs than will be taken away from watching them on traditional broadcast television.

The network’s affiliates were not told the deal was in the works before Wednesday, and they’re the people most likely to be concerned about its impact. Now the iPod will join digital video recorders and DVDs as another way of seeing television programs other than their regularly scheduled times on the ABC stations.

Leon Long, chairman of ABC’s affiliate board and general manager of WLOX-TV in Biloxi, Miss., wasn’t worried.

He said if viewers have the choice of watching “Desperate Housewives” on their wide-screen television with surround sound or a two-inch iPod screen, they will almost certainly watch it on TV. The iPod option will likely be attractive to people who missed an episode and want to keep up with the story, he said.

Cash Advance Loan Software

Writen by Jimmy Sturo

Product innovation and strong usability continues to generate demand for software products. The combination of new releases updates and strong support has more users than ever. The Cash Advance Loan Software may have a DOS or Windows based software. DOS software loads much faster because it requires much less RAM (e.g., FoxPro DOS programs require 0.5 MEG vs. Access Windows programs require 32 MEG). This is less of an issue now than it used to be because of very fast, high performance computers. However, it is still a problem if you plan to run the software on a network where you have multiple workstations accessing the same data.

It is still a problem when you have to compress and reindex. A compress and reindex in DOS will take one-fifth the time of a Windows compress and reindex. This is a big problem if your Windows software reports that you have to compress and reindex once a week or worse — once a day. Windows programming is based on the concept of component dependency. The intention of component dependency is to reduce the amount of RAM required by applications and to reduce the amount of coding required writing a program. However, the downside is if you install a new program, even a program that has nothing to do with Payday Loan software, that installation may automatically install a newer version of a component that your Payday Loan software is based on. That new component may cause the Payday Loan software to stop running (i.e., Windows reports a general protection fault error or a fatal exception error). If this happens to you, you may have to uninstall the new program, uninstall and reinstall the Payday Loans program, or reinstall Windows and all installed software…time consuming to say the least.

SAP Business One – Local ERP for Multinational Corporation – Brazil

Writen by Andrew Karasev

Multinational Corporation usually has to consider two major criteria in overseas subsidiary MRP system selection. First is its integration with Corporate ERP, deployed in the Headquarters and second – localization status of the proposed ERP, where localization usually assumes two aspects – compliance to tax legislation and local language support. Then international environment may be very diversified, however you will recognize the pattern – when you have manufacturing facility in the small or mid-size country – then tax legislation is usually more “standard”, than if you have production plant in the large country. Consider Brazil, for example – it has unique tax requirements and localization from the tax compliance stand point is usually complicated – you should do your homework in the selection. And, in the case of corporate business, the ERP selection policy usually requires international ERP brand, such as SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Business Solutions. Let’s come to SAP Business One details and options.

Multilanguage in one company. This feature allows your controller from the headquarter “surf” your overseas ERP through remote connection by simply switching Brazilian Portuguese to US or British English. Whatever happens with your ERP support partner in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro or any unexpected accounting personnel turnover – you will be in control, because you will know how to use your English screens

Tax compliance. SAP Business One is localized for Brazilian tax code and the tax engine as SAP believes will also be adopted for another large country, such as India with the same technology approach and programming schema. In our opinion SAP used abstract approach, when it designed the solution, which is flexible and adaptable with multiple tax-challenging markets criteria in the design.

Integration. Virtually from any report screen you can export your transactions in scope and it could be done in Excel, tab delimited text, etc. Then SAP Business One has integration tool to mySAP/R/3 – in case if your company uses SAP in the Headquarters.

Licensing. SAP Business One uses All-in-one license type, when you pay fixed price per named user (you can get CRM module only users at half of the regular all-in-one license prices)

Database Platform. Microsoft SQL Server is reasonably priced plus if you have open license with Microsoft for your company – you may use this advantage.

Microsoft Office. SAP Business One is tightly integrated with MS Office – it emails through MS Outlook client of local workstation, exports data to Excel, etc. Currently SAP has joint project with Microsoft – Mendocino – to integrate SAP R/3 with Microsoft Office platform. SAP Business One is probably ahead in its original integration technology.

Brazilian version availability. It is available since February 2006.

SAP Business One SDK. If you need custom tuning & programming, coming beyond the scope of user-friendly interface modification & customization – you should look for SAP Business One SDK customization partner, who is licensed to program SAP Business One SDK

Competition. Localized: Portuguese translated and tax tune ERP versions have also Microsoft: Microsoft Navision/Dynamics NAV, Microsoft Axapta/Dynamics AX (since April 2006) (please be sure that Microsoft Solomon/Dynamics SL and Microsoft Great Plains/Dynamics GP are not supported by Microsoft Business Solutions in Brazil), Oracle Financials/Applications/E-Business Suite, SAP mySAP and SAP all-in-one. Plus you may need to check with regional ERP vendors, such as Microsiga

ERP Implementation Partner selection. This is the question of how comfortable you feel yourself on the local or regional IT consulting market. Typical is the case when ERP implementation company from the Headquarters side subcontracts local ERP implementer in Brazil – or you can do the same – simply by selecting mid-size or small international ERP consulting firm, specializing in international business and present in USA/Europe and Brazil at the same time.

Fitness Club Software – Diet The High-Tech Way: Fitness Club Software Provides Unparelled Tools

Writen by Karen Gates

Everything is high tech these days. So why not go electronic with dieting and exercise too? It’s the new hip way to reach your health and fitness goals.

Originally, online dieting was designed to let you customize a weight loss plan to your own pace. Fitness equipment, low fat cookbooks, dietary supplements and vitamins, you’ve seen them all and more but if they aren’t used together in a perfectly balanced routine you may not ever see any results. Fitness gurus caught on and started providing systems that keep track of all the many aspects of dieting and more importantly what results you personally will see from using them.

The prices for these memberships are low compared to most other methods of dieting. And if you’ve already spent a lot of money on fitness equipment, gym memberships, and other costly products, it will only help you maximize their use.

Fitness franchises have even gotten in on it, offering fitness club software or online memberships to help you keep track of your goals and stay motivated without any extra billing. Bally fitness has one of these sites that provides its clients with meal and exercise plans as well as personal support for members of their gym. If you can see that you’re getting results, after all, they know you’ll keep paying those monthly membership fees. And it probably will be more worth it to you as well.

Here’s why. Imagine counting every calorie in the food you eat, then keeping track of those you burn in your exercise routine. Do you really have time for that? Instead you can login to your online membership site each morning and check your personalized menu. If you follow that menu you’ll know that you’re only taking in calories or carbohydrates that won’t hinder your fitness goals. Many membership sites also include daily exercise programs, so you know when to work on cardio, strength training or take a day of rest.

Add to that online support from a personal trainer, dietician or other health expert that most sites include in the price of membership and you’ve got a great resource to keep yourself on track. And isn’t that the hardest part of dieting anywayjust doing it?

Karen Gates offers free information on hundreds of different weight loss methods. She also provides honest and unbiased dieting and weight loss product reviews. Go to Best Weight Loss Program also found at http://www.bestweightprograms.com.

Linspire: Computing The Way It Should Be

Writen by Saquib Hussain

As the name indicates, you might have already guessed it right. Linspire is an operating system powered by Linux. There is a growing interest in using Linux on the desktop computer, and these days it’s easier than ever to try. Like Microsoft Windows and Mac OS, Linux too is an operating platform for computer users. Some people want to get more power, stability and security from their desktop computer. This is where Linux comes in…

Linux is considered to the most stable and 100% virus free operating system in the world (even more stable than Windows or MAC OS). The core has some familiarity with UNIX operating system. UNIX is the father of Linux generation, although there are many differences between Unix and Linux, but the key capabilities or working style of both the Operating Systems are very much alike. This UNIX was developed mainly for scientists, and research workers. People working with high level research or tests that includes days or months of computation power, require the most stable and powerful work base operating system – UNIX was just all that.

Linux evolved from Unix and is extremely powerful in respect to computation works and stability. Because of its speed, stability and low cost, Linux became the fastest growing operating system for servers (the computers than run big companies, the Internet, large networks, etc.) in the world. You would hardly see a Linux system to crash! Linux is only a fraction of the cost of MS Windows, it’s meant to be a open source platform, to make others become more interested in using Linux. The birth of Linux was meant for the power and stability of computers, not to make money out of it.

Genuine Linspire can be bought at a price as $50. You can either download or pay a little extra to get the CD version of this OS. From the moment you start installing Linspire, till you get really into it, all the time you would be amazed by its superior capabilities. Many of us have experienced the complexities of installing a Linux operating system (Red Hat, Mandrake etc.), let alone using it. Linspire completely changes this idea of use of Linux based system. It’s in fact easier than windows in many ways. From the installation to the real usage, inspire brings an ultra modern, sleek looking, stylish, easy and powerful capabilities into your computer. Inspired by both Mac OS and windows, Linspire combined the appearances from both and made it even better.

The applications and utilities are all intuitively labeled and the interface is simple and easy to navigate, making the product easy to learn for any refugee from Microsoft’s Windows Here we have an operating system that does just about everything Windows can do, and gives that extra edge of stability. Linspire can keep you entertained out of the box for days. With what seems like a million-and-one add-on widgets, settings and configuration screens, just getting the Desktop looking the way you want it can easily take half a day. There are literally dozens of screensavers, and the configuration for onscreen fonts and even gives you the capability that in which the window shadows would fall. The crystal like interface, modern high-res icons and clean and smooth visuals, simply takes the GUI of Linux to the next level.

Linspire is meant to attract anyone who is into the true functionality of computers. It does what it says, and never lets you down. Linspire comes with Advanced & Secure Internet Suite (highly secured and stable browsers with Tab browsing capability), Complete Office Suite (You can open, edit print you Microsoft office files as well as work on new ones with no problem), Instant Messaging with multiple functionality gives you log in and access to all your IM clients including MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, AOL – log into all of them at the same time suing one software! It would also give you bundled software for Digital Music that gives you full functionality for playing, ripping, burning, managing, downloading you digital music of all popular formats. It also has complete Digital Photos management capacity for printing, sharing or simply managing and viewing thousands of your images. Thousands of other software can be bought or downloaded online with the CNR service using Linspire.

The internet setup of Linspire is also as easy as Windows XP. I recommend you keep you LAN card and cables plugged in, during installation, if all the devices related to networking are turned on, Linspire will automatically setup your network and connectivity barely asking you anything. Other potential features include Advanced Wireless Capability with support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth & IR; Web Publishing Tools, and extremely reliable Plug and Play capabilities. I tried connecting digital cameras of several brands, scanners, MP3 players and pen drives, and recognized every single one of them just like in Windows XP. Linspire instantly recognizes Firewire devices as well. There is also an over growing support for hardware online.

Linspire works just great of you want to buy genuine software. All the programs you would need come bundled with the Operating System itself. The price and performance added with extra ease of use makes it one of the must have Linux operating system ever. Even the requirements for running such a high end system is very low. You barely need to spend much on hardware, but would get better performance than windows – that’s where Linux wins all the time. The entire system works extremely great at only 1 GHz or a slightly higher clock speed capable CPUs (AMD/Intel), with 256MB of RAM. You could throw in a low end 32MB Ge-Force 2 MX based AGP card for some nice 3D optimization and visuals.

With a attractive price, great set of features, stability and security, breath taking looks and distinctive approach towards computing – Linspire simply rocks being the best operating System for people who demand perfect blend of functionality, elegance and robustness.

eCommerce development for Microsoft Great Plains: tools and highlights for programmer

Writen by Andrew Karasev

Microsoft Business Solutions Great Plains, former Great Plains Software Dynamics and eEnterprise was designed in earlier 1990th as ERP, which can be easily transferable to the winning Database and OS platform and it was originally available on Mac and PC – Mac OS and Microsoft Windows respectively. Graphical platforms battle is pretty much over and now with eCommerce demands, we should look at Great Plains Dynamics tables structure:

Naming Convention. Great Plains was designed to be ready to move to the winning database platform and probably this is why we see this a bit complicated naming convention in place: SOP10100, RM00101, IV00101 – these are samples: SOP header, Customer master, Inventory master. First – we see module prefix: SOP – Sales Order Processing, RM – Receivables management, IV – Inventory control, etc., then 0 stays for the master files, 1 – so-called work files (before transaction being posted), 2 – open files (after transaction is posted) and 3 – historical files (when you close the year in General Ledger – transactions are moved from open to history files). So as you see – logic is present and structured, but it is not friendly to the developer, who never seen and worked with Great Plains Dynamics.

Tables Groups. Great plains was designed to first serve mid-size businesses and then with the availability of third party modules – the intention was to compete on corporate ERP market with Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP and others big players. This is why we see the whole cluster of tables to store, say Sales Invoice: SOP Header, SOP Lines, SOP Distribution, RM Key file, etc.

From the Forms side (or screens) you can see more human-readable names: SOP Entry, RM_Customer_Maintenance, POP_Entry or the like. But these legacy Great Plains Dexterity names do not help eCommerce developer – only probably as the reference on which table works with specific screen.

Let’s take a look at the tools available:

eCommerce – together with eOrder, and other eXXX products it should be considered as legacy and phase out product, based on Microsoft eCommerce server and ASP technology, today Microsoft has new paradigm – .Net and ASPX World

eConnect – was specially created for eCommerce developers, who integrate Microsoft Great Plains with eCommerce web interface. This tool covers a lot of Great Plains objects creation and retrieving functionality, however it does have restrictions, because it was not intended as replacement to Great Plains Dexterity shell. For example – if you create Orders in SOP via Web interface/eConnect – it is difficult manipulate these orders (transfers to Invoices, backorders, reallocations, etc.). Another issue with eConnect – developers are kind of used to the fact that Microsoft provides free SDK to its products, Microsoft CRM for example has freely downloadable Microsoft CRM SDK. For eConnect you have to pay license and be on Microsoft Business Solutions annual support to get version upgrades. Also if you are ISV and develop your GP integration to your customers – you have licensing issue with Microsoft.

Custom SOP/AR stored procedures. Microsoft Business Solutions partners in their practice usually have several Great Plains integration projects implemented where integration is realized on the stored procedures level and transactions are created and manipulated in Great Plains SOP. So – you may end up seeking this type of help

Good luck with implementation, customization and integration and if you have issues or concerns – we are here to help! If you want us to do the job – give us a call 866-528-0577 or 630-961-5918! help@albaspectrum.com
